Crossing (2008)
Crossing (also known as Keurosing) is a 2008 South Korean film directed by Kim Tae-gyun. It has been selected as South Korea's submission to the 81st Academy Awards for Best Foreign
The story tells of a father and husband who decides to illegally cross into China, to buy medicine for his pregnant wife who is suffering from tuberculosis. However once he crosses into China, he realizes that it's not as easy and eventually finds himself into South Korea. There, he buys the medicine, as well as planning to bring his pregnant wife and son. But then he finds out that his wife has died from her illness and that their son has been sent to a labor camp. But he is able to get help and arranges his son to escape into Mongolia (via China) to meet him there. Unfortunately, however the son becomes lost in the Gobi desert, after crossing the Mongolian border, and eventually dies.
